Introduction to Musikal Chairs

Dear Lyrek Subscribers,

As you may have noticed, a new notification has appeared on the Contacts landing page of your Lyrek installation announcing a trial of Musikal Chairs.
Musikal Chairs is the latest add-on to Lyrek, developed in large part following feedback and suggestions from our client base. Earlier this month, we sent announcements about the rollout of this add-on and have already scheduled many on-site orientations to demonstrate how Musikal Chairs can further save you time and money with your day-to-day event management workflow.

While navigating the Lyrek interface, you will find that almost none of the familiar screens have changed. There are some new power features that hook directly into Musikal Chairs, listed below:

   1.   The main navigation now features a VENUES tab, a short cut to Preferences > Venues, where certain usertypes can now:

      a.   Add a Venue
      b.   Build a Venue
      c.   Copy a Venue
      d.   Delete a Venue

   2.    The Add Event and Edit Event pages now feature a new dropdown menu where you may Select a venue where that Event will take place.
   3.   The Event Seating page now gives you access to assign event invitees and guests their seats at the venue location, by simple drag-and-drop from a list of all attending.


If you don’t wish to use Musikal Chairs to design your own venues (or import those provided by our Sponsored Venue Providers), you may still use all of the traditional methods for assigning seats for your event.

Below is a brief synopsis of how Musikal Chairs can integrate seamlessly into your own Lyrek installation.

Contacts
Musikal Chairs is seamlessly integrated into Lyrek with immediate access to your contacts database. Attendee lists for seating are organized by contact name, company, department and media type, as well as Lyrek's new color coding system for greater control over categorization and organization of attendees.

Events
Events have an additional parameter for selecting the event's location, or venue. This venue may be custom-built within the easy-to-use Musikal Chairs Venue Builder, or imported from a free, ever-growing catalog of popular conference halls, hotel and community assembly spaces or Sponsored Venues provided by industry leaders, Musikal Chairs subscribers and Lyrek partners. Lyrek with Musikal Chairs now makes some of the most time-consuming tasks for event planning easy, and even fun! Seating attendees is as easy as drag-and-drop, and users can prepare hundreds of custom charts and reports in a matter of seconds. In addition to Lyrek's robust list and label printing wizards, Musikal Chairs is equipped with new reports formats, such as tailored Attendee Lists, Venue Schematics (all sections or just one), Seating Cards, Tent Cards and more. Print custom, full-color seating plans up to four feet wide!

Venues
All the tools you need to design your own venues are intuitive and accessed directly within Musikal Chairs, finally providing a single, comprehensive solution for managing your event seating. Seats can be easily setup in linear rows or around square and round tables. These rows are then organized into sections, which can be independently named, colored, rotated and placed wherever and however the situation may demand. Building seating plans has never been so fast or easy!

Seamless Integration
Unlike independent seating applications, Musikal Chairs builds on the fully-proven, powerful data structure introduced by Lyrek, and integrates seamlessly into this technology. Seating assignments made in Musikal Chairs are instantly mirrored in Lyrek's traditional seating tool assuring you no repeated steps in your workflow. When printing and emailing your seating plans, event and venue details such as location, date/time, contact information, images and even poster artwork are automatically organized into templates and prepared in the universal Adobe Acrobat format.
